The Fleeting Notes editor is where you write and capture your notes. It’s designed to be fast and frictionless — open it, type, and get back to what you were doing.

Fields

Title

The title is optional. If you leave it blank, the note will be identified by its content or a generated ID.

The title field cannot contain / — this will break sync with Obsidian.

Content

The main body of your note. Supports plain text. If you’re using the Obsidian plugin with a custom template, the content gets placed according to your note template configuration.

Source

The source field stores a URL or reference for where the note came from. If you’re using the browser extension, this field is automatically populated with the URL of the active tab when you open a new note.

Features

Sharing notes

When you share content from another app (e.g., an article, a web page) directly into Fleeting Notes, the source field is pre-filled with the shared URL and the content field may be pre-populated with selected text.

Append Same Source: If App Settings → Editor Settings has “Append Same Source” enabled, sharing from the same URL will append to the existing note with that source instead of creating a new one.

Voice to Text

On mobile, long-pressing the New Note button activates audio capture. The recording is transcribed into text and placed in the content field.

Notes that contain URLs in the source field can display a preview of the linked page, depending on your platform and settings.

Mobile vs. Web

The editor behaves consistently across mobile and web, with a few platform-specific behaviors:

  • Mobile: Supports voice-to-text via long-press on the New Note button.
  • Browser Extension: Auto-fills the source with the current tab URL.
  • Web App: Full editing capabilities at my.fleetingnotes.app.
